Il PANZERFAUST, detto anche "pugno corrazzato" fu senza dubbio la piu' famosa arma controcarro tedesca nell'ultimo conflitto mondiale. Queste armi erano state progettate su richiesta dallo Stato Maggiore tedesco gia' dal 1941. Esso infatti era alla ricerca di un arma portatile in grado di perforare 200 mm di corazza d'acciaio ad una distanza di 150/200 mt.Dal 1943 il Panzerfaust divenne la piu' semplice e diffusa arma controcarro a disposizione dei combattenti tedeschi. Gli studi si svilupparono in diverse direzioni e col 1943 entro' in servizio la granata denominata FAUSTPATRONE (cartuccia a pugno).Il Dott. Langweller studio' e progetto' un mezzo molto semplice per lanciare la Faustpatrone: un lungo tubo in acciaio dove,secondo il principio del cannone senza rinculo, era introdotto un gambo (codolo) saldato alla granata stessa e vi era alloggiata un'adeguata carica di lancio. Con il Panzerfaust era nata un'arma leggera e maneggievole, il primo di una lunga serie. Si poteva sparare in piedi, in ginocchio o anche disteso al suolo. Il metodo piu' pratico era quello di infilare il tubo sotto il braccio destro,la mano sinistra impugnava l'estremita' anteriore del tubo, col pollice della mano destra si premeva il bottone di sparo.
